About this item: This hand-carved mask by Wilson Aboagye personifies the artistic and cultural traditions of the Dagomba people from northern Ghana. Expertly carved from sese wood, the elongated face is marked with the unique scarifications of the Dagomba tribe. About our Artist: 'I became interested in Ghanaian African carvings when I was a child, so after middle school I learned the trade through a man named Mr. Akoffour,' recalls Wilson Aboagye. 'Now I have my own workshop and am training three people. I carve different types of masks and each of them has a meaning. My products are unique and my target is to create more.'
