About this item: Gordon Adu presents an imposing mask from Ghana's Akan people. Carved from sese wood and finished with mansion polish, it bears a traditional Adinkra symbol on the wide forehead. About our Artist: Gordon Adu was unable to finish secondary school because of economic limitations. Taught how to carve by his brother, Gordon moved to the city to seek new opportunities. After a while he returned to his home city and established his workshop there, receiving indispensable moral support from his brother.
