She was born into slavery, but escaped with a plan to rescue slaves. She made 13 missions to rescue more than 70 slaves. She used a network of fellow abolitionists and the legendary Underground Railroad to lead slaves to freedom. She was intelligent in that she carried a rifle for 2 purposes.
